What Is Paediatric Osteopathy?

Our skilled osteopaths Mouhsen and Sezen are trained to provide specialized care for babies, infants and children. Using gentle and non-invasive manual techniques, our osteopaths address a range of paediatric health concerns.

Our approach to paediatric osteopathy focuses on promoting natural healing, enhancing the body’s balance, and supporting your child’s overall wellbeing. We can treat your children throughout all stages of life. We use a variety of techniques during treatment including cranial-sacral techniques, structural cranial, gentle massage and stretches and will send the parent home with some fun exercises to complete with their babies.

During the process of labour whether its quick, long or strenuous, a vaginal delivery or c section, significant forces are exerted on the baby. The journey through the birth canal involves a series of intricate movements and adjustments that help the baby make their way into the word. Therefore, a check up for your baby will be beneficial.

Tongue Tie

Tongue tie occurs when the tissue connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth is shorter or tighter. This condition can potentially affect a baby’s ability to breast feed or latch onto a bottle properly.

Osteopathic treatment for tongue tie in babies involves soft tissue techniques and gentle manipulations. Osteopaths may work on the muscles and fascia in and around the baby’s mouth, tongue and neck to help release tension and improve mobility. The goal is to optimize the baby’s ability to move their tongue freely and comfortably.

It’s important to note that osteopathic treatment for tongue tie is just one approach and may not always be sufficient to address severe cases. In some instances, medical intervention such as minor surgical procedure to release the tongue tie may be necessary.
